Mad for Monkeys!

'Tis the season when we are invited to dinner and we'd like to bring a bottle of wine for our host with just a little something else, right?  But what? Aha, we know!

"Bring a Monkey to Dinner" is the theme of the Wine Monkey. Be a party hero and cover your bottle with this cute chimp. He even covers chimpagne! (Happy New Year!)

He has friends too--scarves, bags and hand-warmers. A Petoskey stone bottle-stopper tops it off as well!

Yes, today is "cyber" Monday and if your are looking at this, then you are participating in this big online shopping day! Congratulations!

And yes, sitting at your desk or couch or at lunch seems like an easy way to shop. The Dancing Eye Gallery can help you and send out your gift or something that you can't live without (and we have the perfect gift here for that hard-to-shop-for person on your list), but, isn't it more fun to actually come in to to store and see our smiling faces? We will even wrap your gift just because it's what we do!

Trick or Treat!

What are you going to be for Halloween?

Well, you'd better decide because this Saturday there will be trick or treating in the streets of downtown Northville!

To celebrate October in the 'ville there will be a parade at 1:00 and then trick or treating from 1:30-2:30. Don't miss the fun and the candy!!!

Celebrating Women in Business

October is Women's Small Business Month. The Dancing Eye Gallery, itself owned by a woman, would like to extend kudos to female artists everywhere, and especially to those represented in our store.

First Friday Experience-Don't Miss It!

Join us on Friday evening, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. as we host Mrinalini Deshpande, a local artist who has been working with ceramics for over 10 years. She will displaying her ceramic jewelry and beads as well as featuring her unique bowls and other fun pieces. Mrinalini's work reflects things, places and people that touched her life and influenced her childhood in India and recent stay in Japan.

Friday is also the neighborhood skeleton unveiling!  Oohhh, scary! Music and festivities will be in the air and around the town!

Olive M'lou Trunk Show

Along with the 24th Annual Victorian Festival this weekend in Northville, the Dancing Eye Gallery is hosting Stephanie Guittard Scigliano owner of olive m'lou on Friday, 9/21 from 5-9 p.m.
During this trunk show she will be featuring her tye-dyed scarves which most of you who frequent the gallery are familiar with. Her color combinations are beautiful--some soft, some dramatic. She will be showing her new fall creations including stackable stretch and crocheted wrap bracelets.
So, stop in this Friday--you won't be able to resist the temptation to update your wardrobe!

Travel Michigan Lately?

Beach Girl Photography by Jamie Hilliard is one of out newest artists at the Dancing Eye Gallery.

Jamie is a local photographer who supports traveling throughout Michigan. Her focus is Detroit, then and now, and the scenes of our beautiful state. Her photos will draw an "I remember that!" or an "Oh my gosh, that's beautiful!" response upon looking at them. They are mounted on her hand-crafted wooden blocks and can be hung on the wall.

Summer is coming to a close and if you didn't get a chance to take a trip throughout Michigan or down memory lane, a look at these photos will make you feel like you just returned!

Yes, kids and parents, that favorite time of year is fast approaching. No, not Christmas or  summer vacation, but The First Day of School!!!!

So we ask, "Are You Ready?"

Have you found that perfect pair of earrings or conversation-piece ring to go with that new favorite outfit? Did you get a Haney magnet board to post "To-Dos" or your shopping list or homework assignments? How about a scrabble necklace with your school logo on the front and your initial on the back? Ya Gotta Have Art!

Local artists Sarah and Thomas Gelsanliter of One Acre Ceramics hand carve intricate patterns on tiles. After bisque firing, glazes are applied giving a cloisonne-like effect to tiles, jars and candlesticks which can be found at the Dancing Eye Gallery. Come and see these beautiful pieces!

This weekend in downtown Northville, we celebrate the BuyMichigan Now Festival highlighting Michigan-based businesses and products, not to mention artists.  All the fun is downtown Fri., Aug. 3 to Sun., Aug. 5, 2012. Newly arrived are frames for our Quotable cards! Now that perfect card you chose to give because it had just the right quote on the front can be framed and displayed, not discarded with other not-as-clever cards! The frame and card make a great hostess gift, friend gift or just an additional bonus.

First Friday Experience

Join us this Friday, June 1,  at the Dancing Eye Gallery for Northville's First Friday Experience. We will be open late and our featured artist will be Melinda Curtis. Melinda will be featuring her handmade and hand-painted scarves with which she will demonstrate tying techniques as well as her unique "hand sculpted" pins which she sculpts with a stylus, then paints by hand.  It will be a fun night, so get out and enjoy the summer weather.
